MISSIONS
Welcome To Mountain View
Nazarene Missions International
Our desire is to involve everyone in supporting Nazarene Missions International (NMI) at the local, district, and national level. NMI supports our missionaries overseas by providing missionaries with the financial, spiritual, and emotional support they need by involving the church on all levels through speakers, letters, and various events.
Our Mission:
To mobilize the church in mission through prayer, education, giving, and interactive experiences.
Objectives:
1. To encourage people to pray for all efforts of world evangelization
2. To inform people of the world‘s needs and what the church is doing to meet those needs.
3. To challenge children and youth to keep their lives available to God‘s will
4. To raise funds for mission outreach
The Church of the Nazarene has over 742 missionaries in 143 world areas serving the Lord by leading others to Christ and joining the local Nazarene church. Our Missionaries leave family, friends, and all that they know to go into another land and share Jesus with others. It is a huge sacrifice that the Lord has called them to in the great commission of Acts 1:8. As a local church it is our goal to involve all people in the great commission that the Lord has established for us going into all the world and preaching and winning the un-churched for Christ.

World Evangelism Fund
The Nazarene Church raises the support for their missionaries in ministry, providing them with a salary and insurance so that their main focus is on serving the Lord and not worrying about raising their own financial support. Each local church is given a dollar amount every year that is needed to send to the general church in order to meet the goal established for that year. This goal is called the World Evangelism Fund and is promoted by a yearly event called Faith Promise. For more information, go to the NMI Website and click on the "giving logo".

Faith Promise
This yearly event challenges the congregation to raise a given dollar amount for the annual World Evangelism Fund. Everyone is asked to prayerfully consider a pledge amount for the year and indicate the amount on a pledge card. The Faith Promise pledge is given over and above regular tithes and offerings. Our local church holds its Faith Promise event in the first quarter of the year, raising the monies needed to reach our goal.

Alabaster
The Nazarene Church uses this means for buying land and building churches, schools and hospitals in mission areas around the world. The congregation is challenged to take an Alabaster box and drop their daily lose change in the box. The boxes are collected in September and February. The money from the boxes is forwarded through the General Church to the needy sites. With the exploding growth attributed to the Jesus Film partnership, we have outgrown many existing church facilities and realize a demand for new buildings. Please pick up your Alabaster box at the missions center in the church foyer and become involved in this ministry.

JESUS Film Harvest Partners
The Church of the Nazarene joined with Campus Crusade for Christ in 1998, establishing a partnership to distribute and show the Jesus Film in locations around the world. This ministry grows daily and has created a serious need for more local pastors, missionaries and buildings to support the new Christians in these fields. More than 9 million believers for Christ have resulted from this ministry. To see more about this exciting ministry of the Jesus Film Harvest Partners click here.

LINKS Family
The Nazarene Church has developed a method by which every church adopts missionaries as their LINKS family for a 2 year period. The LINKS program is represented by an acrostic:
L Loving
I Interested
N Nazarenes
K Knowing and
S Sharing
This connection provides an opportunity for both the local church members and the missionary family to get better acquainted and for the local church to send gifts, cards and letters throughout the year.

Missionary Books
Do we have a deal for you! Exciting missionary books are in the church foyer in the Missions Ministry Center just waiting for you to check them out. You say you don’t have enough time to read – we have an even better deal. The books are on CD’s for your listening pleasure. Now, while you are stuck in traffic on I-5 you can be blessed by hearing about your very own missionaries. The books are only about 75 pages and have pictures, so you can easily read each book in an hour. We also have books for children so they can be involved. As you read remember that the mission of the Church is about all of us, connected, working together to win souls.
Titles of 2008-2009 Missionary Books:
Africa: Where the Decades Still Whisper
Asia – Pacific: From the Rising Sun
The Caribbean
Eurasia: Bountiful Blessing

Be blessed as you read these wonderful books from the hearts of our missionaries. Remember to pray for them.

Work & Witness
Foreign Trips:
Responding to the growth of the church worldwide the General Church developed a ministry for volunteers from local churches to experience a hands-on, meaningful investment in foreign missions. A project is selected by the local church and a team of approximately 20 persons commits to spend 10-14 days working on the project which may involve construction, medical support, evangelism, facility refurbishing, and other services. Each person pays for their own trip expenses and the local church sends funds to support the project.
Mountain View church has sent work and witness teams to many countries from Mozambique in east Africa to Okinawa, Japan. To see pictures of various projects, click the link. Our most recent trips were to Belize and 2 trips to Ecuador in a coordinated evangelistic effort with E3-Partners, focusing on cross-cultural evangelism.
Local activities:
In response to needs within our local district Mountain View has participated in the Thurston-Lewis County relief and rebuilding effort, Flood of Love in the spring of 2008. We have also been involved in refurbishing church and support facilities in the Washington Pacific District.
